Pizza Hut opens Open Kitchen in Delhi
A
good seating is an essential ingredient for any food to taste great. Pizza hut
puts this into practice with launch of multi-storey conceptualized FCD store
in Delhi. FCD stands for Fast Casual Delco. Popular stand-up comedian, Sumit
Anand gave a laughter dose to the guests at the launch. The store is located at
Shop No.29, Community Centre, PVR Anupam, Saket, New Delhi.
The
pizza from pizza hut needs no introduction and neither would this store, a
testimonial to "for the love of
pizza" mantra. Open kitchen is exciting for any food lover. Chic
design, casual ambiance, good seating capacity, innovative offerings, faster
service makes it a must.
The place has a contemporary layout and has a distinct
freshness with vibrant interiors. The place takes you to a complete comfort
tour by offering charging points, free Wi-Fi and some energy music. These
offerings though seem minuscule but are great when you just want to be relaxed and
enjoy your pizza without thinking about anything else.
I
love pizza and enjoying it in such wonderful place makes it my second place after
home.

The China kitchen turns 10
Food knows no boundaries, and no matter how much tension exists at
the Indo China Border, chowmein will continue to be part of order at every
outlet, which serves it. The love for Chinese food among the Indians needs no
introduction and neither do The China Kitchen at Hyatt Regency, Delhi. The
Place recently completed 10 years and extends to give 50 percent discount on
the bill on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday until 30 September.
(Steamed green vegetable dumplings)
(Steamed Broccoli crystal dumpling)
(Pan fried Glutinous lamb dumpling)
It needs no preface, but still I felt like sharing my experience.
As it was my first visit to the place, so very excited to share my experience.
I almost liked everything at the place, right from the entrance to the place we
dined. The place has a dim lighting, and it does not give a feeling that I am
strolling in dark. Instead, it is a very soothing. The dining hall is well lit,
and yet lighting is not loud. I am so much focused about light is, because it
helped my camera to focus and capture good images. If you do not like the snaps
is purely my lack of skill and everything else was perfect.
(Sichuan chicken salad)
Chinese food is far from masalas, or spices and condiments as
compared to Indian. So, expecting that will be foolishness. However, they are
not bland. The food is authentic or not, is difficult to say as I have never
been to china and tasted it there. However, I liked it and that is more
important than anything is. One interesting thing about the place is that
it has five master chefs and each one has his own expertise. Like, one chef is
a duck chef and does only duck. He slices duck with so much perfection and
style that it is a pleasure to watch him doing so.
(Wok fried spicy pork belly celery chili, soy)
I liked everything at the place, and what I loved is Lamb dumplings
and Prawn tail dumplings. Woks toss eggplant changed my view towards baingan.
The first thing that came to my mind after having a bite is “Kya baigan bhi
itna tasty ban sakta hai?”. Another wonderful creation was Pork belly. China
Kitchen dessert tray is awesome and the Cigar is better than the actual one.

Thingyan Festival @ Burma Burma, Cyber Hub
We all make new resolutions or new products to welcome New Year. Burma Burma also does the same. Thingyan Festival or Burmese New Year starts from today (11 May 2017), and to celebrate this they have launched a new Thingyan Menu. This is an exclusive menu and in no commonality with the regular menu. It has all from Soups, starters, main course and desserts.
The best part about the place is it is an all-vegetarian hub.
Therefore, you can any time move in with your anti-chicken friend and can savor
the preparations.
They will first make you wash hands like this with sandalwood water in a typical traditional style.
Also all the service staff has painted white circles on their cheeks. On inquiring, they revealed that these are made from sandalwood paste. It is a tradition to mark it this way, the welcome of New Year.
We tried 90 percent of dishes from this special menu and 10 percent were left because of the limited tum size. I will not say you will love it all, as we have an Indian palate and it is not an Indian cuisine. However, one will surely love some of the preparations, as I too have an Indian palate and I personally feel so.
Some of the recommendations are Guava Salad, crunchy Tofu Steamed Buns and Lotus stem crisps. Tofu Steamed buns and Lotus stem crisps are like a common saying in Hindi “Pet bhar gaya per dil nahi bhara”. I am posting the pics of the menu; you can surely know the name, but not the taste from the name.

So do visit the place, as this menu is only in for next 10
days till 21st May. Go and have your bite.
Happy Eating… J

Hahn's Kitchen | Review
It was my second interaction with something Korean after my childhood. I had a hobby of stamp collection then, we used to exchange stamps among our friends and many Korean stamps were exchanged for a single big stamp. These exchange ratios were only attributed to their small size and rest other factors of valuations were never considered, actually we were ignorant of any other factors then.
This food interaction
was an experience, and I would love to have it often. Though it was my first face
to face with Korean food, so can’t say it was authentic, however I feel it was.
I have some strong
logical reasons to believe that way, after a little research on Korean culture.
Like, the Koreans use steel chopsticks, and prior to this, I have only seen
those wooden ones. They are quite people and do not like to talk during meals,
the place has a separate setup very much in Korean theme apart from the usual
fine dine sitting.
What I liked most about the place is ambiance. Lighting is soothing and calm; there is a peace in the place. They score more than full if there is an option, for hygiene and cleanliness.
Now, moving to the food part. Who loves to experiment and explore, will love it. Those have a taste bud for Korean food will like it (feedback from more experienced). I liked some and some not. In Korean cuisine they use fermented sauces and pastes and in some of them this fermented flavor is very pronounced and some may not like it. For example, Kimchi Jeon has a strong flavor and few may turn around from it. I personally liked Kkanpunggi very much and would love it with a mug of beer. Also, they served egg rolls, not able to recall the exact name what they call in Korean, I simply loved them.
They serving size is
huge, and order carefully as you may end up wasting food which is not a good
practice in any culture and not even Korean. The prices are very apt and I was
expecting to be more on high side.

Rule the Rolls | A Quick Review
Variety: Not much, though what they serve is good. The serve
tikkas wrapped in Rumali Roti, also one can order the same combination without
a wrap. Score (3/5)
Taste: Tastes like Home made rolls. Chicken and mutton
pieces are well roasted and succulent. Namak mirch ek dam barabar. Score (4/5)
Serving Size: Good is the word. One roll is enough for one
person. Score (4/5)
Ambiance: Simple, small place and well cooled. They do not have
much seating capacity, though they serve a quick bite so easy to find seat. They
have a comfortable seating. The walls have framed Prayers in Islam, thanking
god for the everything. Score (3.5/5)
Hygiene: Hygiene standards are good. They have an open
kitchen behind the Glass walls, so one cannot escape that. Score (5/5)
Staff: They are very courteous and very polite. Food tastes
lot better with love and they are aware of this ingredient. Score (5/5)
Service: It is a quick bite and they make to order, so one may
face few delays. (4/5)
Price: It is aptly priced, when looked at in consideration
with Serving Size. Two can easily eat and satisy there tums in 500-600 INR. (3/5)
What I ordered: Haleem, Chicken Malai Tikka Roll, Mutton
Kofta with Rumali Roti and Sheer Khurma. Score (5/5)
Recommendations: Haleem, it is simple in taste, not heavily
spiced and a complete meal with Meat, Rice and various types of Pulses. This
was my first interaction with haleem and I loved it. There may be others
tasting better than they serve, but will get to know with time. Score (4/5)
Why not to visit? If you are on lookout for greasy, rolls
with super spices with taste residing in your taste buds even after hours and reminded
of what you ate through burrps.

Navratra - Fast to Feast - Day #5
Papdi chaat and sabudana tikki.
Restaurants have added special navratri dishes to their regular one for these special days. Though navratas are meant to fast, but restaurants being so creative and flavourful in curating special menus, they have to be honoured. And this menu, will be available only during navratra, so how will I get to taste them if I don't feast during navratra...😊. The food work should be respected.

Sabudana nariyal tikki. This is one of the most common snack preparation during Navratra. Easy to make, good to eat, flavoured with chutneys.

Navratra - Fast to Feast - Day #2
There are three types of meals Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian and then Navratra. Navratra meal is no challenge, when people dont prefer to eat Pulses, wheat flour, rice, onion, garlic, egg plant. Some even avoid tomato and turmeric. So what is left to consume? With the limited list of ingredients available, chef doesn't even need a creative hat instead a magical hat and wand to create something palatable.
Chefs at Punjab Grill does this so well.
More to follow on Day 3
Happy eating... 😊

Kayani Bakery - A Legacy
Heritage was the first
word that punched my mind when I saw this bakery. Curvy refrigerators, elderly
parsi uncles at the cash counter, wooden display racks, handwritten menu on
blackboard using chalk, ceiling fan resembling to mace with wings hanging from
the ceiling. Hey, are you also back to 19 century? Come back, we are at Pune in
21 Century and the name of the place is Kayani Bakery.
From outside it seems
that as if some free distribution is going on. Everyone is rushing to get
inside and then coming out happily with a packet in hand as a prized possession.
Hard-earned money cannot buy you anything; instead, you have to do some hard
work by standing in the rush and queue to get your mawa cake. So much is the
rush at any time of the day. Bakery opens up early in the morning around 7, and
is closed for few hours in the afternoon and then open in evening. It is not
sure, that even if the bakery is open you will get what you want. They turn out
of stock like anything, quickly after opening, especially mawa cake.
All the products tried
were simply awesome. We commonly hear the term bakery fresh or straight from
the oven. However, this is one place, which put life to these words. I tried
cream rolls, mawa cake, Shrew berry biscuit, butter jeera and many more. All were
to the best of their taste.
If you are in Pune, do
not miss to visit this place. Shrewsbury biscuits and a mawa cake is a Pune souvenir,
you can buy for anyone whom you are meeting within a week or 10 days. Products
taste great, it is tried by myself, and I am still alive and writing this Post…
J. Even, if you are visiting a local, not sure what to buy. Grab
a basket, stuff it with few mawa cakes, shrewsbury biscuits and lot more to
choose, get it wrapped and gift it, they will love it.
Location: 6 East Street, Opposite Victory Theater, Pune - 411001, India.

Ice Pan Creamery
Simplest recipe for ice cream? Mix milk or cream, fruits, chocolate chips or any other ingredients of your choice in a bowl and freeze it in freezer. I take away freezer and give you a pan, now make it. You must be thinking stupid of me. Yes, you have your own reasons for that but I have mine. Go and have ice cream at any of the ice pan Creamery outlets and now think stupid of me. They make your ice cream live in front of your eyes on pans and then serve them as ice cream rolls. Interesting? These pans are super cooled pans at temperature between -30 to -45 ° C. Fresh ingredients poured into pans, crushed, and seeing them freezing and articulating into rolls is a visual celebration and what an art. Flavours are definitely good, as the ingredients are fresh, authentic and natural. No trace of preservatives.
They offer quite a choice of flavours in each category namely vanilla, sorbet and chocolate. They have an extensive menu, and lot to choose from shakes, and other choice of beverages like Ice Tea, cold coffee, mock tails. Also on the menu are the combos with sandwiches, drinks and ice cream rolls.
USP of the place is freshness and authenticity. They veggies in the sandwich are fresh and crunchy; it may take a bit longer to get your sandwich, as the veggies will be chopped as per the order. However, I do not mind waiting 5 minutes longer when the freshness is guaranteed.
They have given London circus downtown theme to the place and it makes the ambiance a chic look.
All in all a nice place to enjoy the cooked ice cream.
Happy eating... :)

Anjlika Pastry Shop | Karol Bagh | Quick Review
I am in love with the place as for this is the safest option to have a quick snack while shopping through the bustling streets of Karol Bagh. By safe I mean, 'the taste', a bad one spoils the mood and day and can be harmful... :) In summers, it is one of the best place to take shopping break.
Sip your cold coffee with a burger, roll, pastry or sandwich and review your shopping tasks or next target shops. At least this was my first, second and Everytime experience. They have a place in basement and upstairs as well. It is a self service joint and have an option of eat there as well as take away. They do not serve any thing exceptional, yet they are good and best from the rest. Simple fresh food of good quality and taste, in a neat and clean ambiance at genuine price is their USP
Happy Eating... :)

Standard Burfee | Karol Bagh | Restaurant Review
Think of the angel and devil is here, is something that happened with me at Standard Burfee, Karol Bagh. I love this place for the authentic Indian Sweets, purity, hygiene and tasty food preparations in Desi ghee. Another high point is, it is one of the no onion- garlic shops. So, an ideal place to hang out with Jain friends or at the time of navratras, when most of us those who are not fasting at least try to avoid onion and garlic.

I have been visiting this place quite often for delicacies and snacks. Prices are normal, it is neither a fine-dine nor a cheap eat. They have a nice comfortable sitting, where can also see most of the preparations live, like bhature, jalebi and tikki. It is a value for money place. A good place to have Indian snacks like Chole Bhature, Tikki Chaat, Ram laddoo and and and…
Ok, so where are the angel and the Devil? I always have vote for the chole bhature at this place; one reason is it is desi ghee preparation and minimal usage of soda in chole which palate cannot easily detect. In my recent visit, when I being optimistic felt otherwise. Chole, bit uncooked this time and had a hard texture. Though place is very hygienic but somehow a hair strand made a way in my aloo tikki. I know this is not the place where I expect this, as I have been eating since long and never seen any compromise on hygiene. It also felt bad.

However, I had to inform the management. I called for the person cooking in the open kitchen and shown him the mess, by pointing at the plate. He was apologetic that was clear from his body language and expressions, as this being a place of repute from ages it is a matter of shame. He immediately called for a cleaner, asked him to dump the serving in garbage outside the shop. Then he asked another waiter to serve us a fresh, said sorry to us and left. This was not more than a 30-second long story and only exchange of word that happened was “Sorry”. He never tried to justify, took a quick decision without any hesitation and resolved the issue. Mistakes happen and how you handle them is important. Some time you are completely put off from eating and this was one such incident.
An incident, which would have made me not to look at this shop anymore, instead earned appreciation. I felt bad, but that was for an instant. I made my purchase of sweets as usual, tried some more food. Moreover, it was not too bad experience in total… 😊 Good hospitality is necessary for food to taste tastier.
Happy eating… 😊

Wow momo @ Satyaniketan,Delhi | Review
I am not a big fan of Momos, and they always give me that uncooked
slimy feeling. Traffic on Delhi roads can also do some good, by making someone
like momos, is quite an unusual optimism. Slow moving traffic due to ongoing
road construction activity at Satyaniketan, Benito Juarez Marg, is enough to
frustrate anybody on Friday evening. Hit by the same on nerves and hunger in
stomach, we parked our car on roadside or rather left it and hopped on the
other side of the road to save ourselves from starvation.
My colleague has a taste for momos and wanted to have a quick bite
and also something which is easy on tums. Though it proved otherwise, we had to
skip our dinner and savoured for around hour. Wow momos was the only option
with mentioned constraints.
A small eatery with posters around and post-its with compliments
on one of the walls gives it a cool, wannabe youth look. Don’t look out for
fine dine experience and for facilities like powder room etc.
Experiments that turn good or our successful can be called as wow
momos. Momo inside a burger is quite unconventional and is known as MoBurg. I
would say it is more for a spicy palete, and a normal one will blow whistles
with every bite. In fact, all the preparations we tried we found them bit spicy
above normal.
Baked momo augratin, is another grace to taste. It is momos
wrapped in noodles and buried under loads of cheese and spicy sauce. Garnished with
Italian flavorings, sends the aromatic invitation all around to relish it.
As we found the food quite spicy, ice cream was the only option for
rescue. However, they call it softy, but were running out of cones, so they
served it to us in cups. Ice cream was good, simple vanilla dozed with
chocolate chips and chocolate sauce.
Overall a good experience for a non meal type hunger, though we
replaced it with meals… J

Delhi.
